Lord Jesus taught His disciples to pray like this: “Give us this day our daily bread”. God is the provider. He wants to give us everything which could help us to live a peaceful and happy life. At times we trust in our own abilities, in our job, in our finance, in our health etc. And if any of these things fail, we feel dejected and heart broken.
Lord Jesus’ disciples were in the same situation when Lord Jesus died on the cross. They did not know what to do, where to turn to or from where the next meal would come. So they went to their old job of fishing. Probably they thought, it will keep food on the table for their families. They tried to catch fish the whole night but could not catch even a single fish. Completely tiered and heart broken when they came to the shore, they saw Lord Jesus was standing there. Not only was He standing there but He had prepared hot breakfast for them. When they saw Jesus their hearts were filled with great joy.
There was one woman named Hannah in the Old Testament. She was a sorrowful woman because she had no children. She was in such distress and grief that she would cry often and would skip her meals. But one day she went to the temple and poured out her heart before God. She wept bitterly and prayed for a child. Bible tells us that when she left the temple, “her face was no longer sad”. Though Hannah did not receive a child at that very moment but her anguish, grief, distress and years of pain had gone in one split second at the feet of Lord God Almighty. And she knew in her heart for sure that her prayer was answered. She went home with great peace and joy in her heart. Later on she had a baby boy in due time who was none other than the Old Testament prophet Samuel.
Today you may be in physical or material needs, if you look to Jesus, He can help you and He can bring you out of your troubles. He will wipe away all your tears and fill you with His peace and joy.
Lord Jesus not only wants to meet our physical and material needs but also wants to meet our spiritual needs. Because of sin we are separated from God but Lord Jesus came for the very purpose to unite us to God by taking away our sins. He went to the cross and shed His precious blood on the cross so that our sins could be forgiven. If you need forgiveness of your sins and a place in heaven, just come to Jesus and ask for it. He will gladly forgive your sins and will give you eternal life.

Many prophets, good teachers, philosophers, thinkers, scientists and many great people came in this world but no one ever claimed what Jesus claimed in John 14:6, “Jesus said to him, "I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me.”
Not only He claimed but He demonstrated His every word with His actions. He forgave the sins of people and by doing so He invoked the anger of Pharisees and righteous leaders of that time who could not fathom that how any human being could ever forgive the sins of people? When He was on the cross, He said to the criminal who hang with Him that, “today you will be with me in paradise.” We see Jesus’ every action with authority and power. People were astonished at His authority. One may ask this question, from where this authority came in His life.” Because He is the author of everything, He is the very creator who made everything. He knows the roots and He knows what we are.
When He saw that we human being fallen in sin and are unable to come out of our sins, He came down from heaven in the form of a man to save us from our sins. When He saw that because of our sins we are headed to hell fire, He had compassion on us. For this very reason He went to the cross and shed His precious blood. By doing this He made a way for our salvation. Today if we come to Him and repent of our sins, He is ready to forgive our sins and give us eternal life.
Sometimes people think that different religions are different ways which leads to the same place. So they believe that no matter what way you go through you will ultimately reach heaven. But that is not true. For example, suppose you want to go to China from New York. But if you assume that all airplanes will take you to China so assuming that you arrive at New York airport and board any airplane. Do you really believe that finally you will reach China? The answer is “no”. Because all planes are not going to China, you may reach somewhere else instead of reaching to China. But if you take a ticket to go to China and board a plane which is China bound, you can definitely go to China.
In the same way we need to make sure that we are going to heaven while we are still in this world. It is not hard to make sure of your destination. Just come at the feet to Jesus, repent of your sins and ask Him to forgive and forget all your sins. He will gladly do that.
