Numbers 23:23, "For there is no sorcery against Jacob, Nor any divination against Israel. It now must be said of Jacob And of Israel, 'Oh, what God has done!'
This is the story of a man who went to curse Israel but could not and found at the end that "there is no sorcery against Jacob, Nor any divination against Israel." Finally he came back after blessing Israel. Why did it happen? We read in Numbers 23:21-22, "He has not observed iniquity in Jacob, Nor has He seen wickedness in Israel. The LORD his God is with him, And the shout of a King is among them. God brings them out of Egypt; He has strength like a wild ox."
Because Israel was redeemed by God and there was no sin or wickedness in Israel. God hates sin but He loves those who turn from their sins and wickedness and receives forgiveness of God. The moment a person receives forgiveness of his/her sins, God's protection is upon them. No amount of evil power can harm them. No witchcraft, no sorcery can bring any disaster in their lives because God Himself protects them.
Recently I watched the video of an Indian lady who was possessed by a spirit of witchcraft. She was brought to a meeting. Her husband was with her. She was pointing her finger at her husband and was screaming, "I will destroy him and make him nothing" The preacher asked, "why do you want to destroy him?" She replied, "Because he wants to serve the Lord." The preacher said, "You have a spirit of witchcraft". She said, yes, from my father's side.... Later she was delivered by the mighty power of God.
You can see that the devil possessed woman could not destroy the man of God though she was living with him. Why? Because God's protection was in his life. If you accept Jesus as your Lord and Savior, you need not to fear of evil. Before your time, destined by God, nobody could harm you nor could destroy your life. You may feel as if your enemy has surrounded you and that there is no way out yet, but my God will make a way for you to come out of those situations.
Second thing we see is that, God was with them and God was among them. When we live a holy life God comes down and dwells among us. If the almighty God is with us, if the awesome God dwells among us then who would ever dare to come and harm us?
Third thing is, "And the shout of a King is among them." Definitely it tells us about a joyous victory celebration. Do you know what the powers of a King are? He has all power to do anything what he wants. He makes us victorious when He is among us.
But what a tragedy awaits those who live in witchcraft and sorcery, for those who purposefully go to curse others specially to the children of God as Balaam did who went to curse God's children! His end was tragic. We read in Joshua 13:22, "The children of Israel also killed with the sword Balaam the son of Beor, the soothsayer, among those who were killed by them."
Yes, witchcraft not only destroys a person but also brings curse in their family and in their kids lives generation after generation. But if you repent and turn to God, He is ready to forgive and forget all your sins. He is ready to give you a new life.
Return to the Father's house
By Sherly Isaac
Why do we need to return to the father's house? Of course I am not talking about the worldly father but about heavenly Father.
1. There is forgiveness of sin in Father's house
In Luke 15th chapter we read the story of a man who had two sons. The younger son asked his father to give whatever goods that fall in his portion. Soon after that he left his house taking all his possessions and went to a faraway country. There he wasted his possessions with prodigal living. When he had nothing to eat, he ate the pods which pigs eat and no one gave him anything. But one day he remembered that in his father's house how many of his father's hired servants had bread enough and to spare while he was perishing with hunger! It was a big eye opener for him and he decided to go back to his father's house. He makes plan to repent and say to his father like this, "Father, I have sinned against heaven and before you, and I am no longer worthy to be called your son. Make me like one of your hired servants."
And it happens that he starts his journey back to his Father's house. But when he was still a great way off, his father saw him and had compassion, and ran and fell on his neck and kissed him. And the son said to him, 'Father, I have sinned against heaven and in your sight, and am no longer worthy to be called your son.'
But father forgives him right then and there. No matter how much bad thing this younger son did against his father, no matter how much money and possessions he spoiled, no matter how smelly and dirty he was, no matter how he was covered in rags, but when he came repenting, his father embraced him with open arms and forgave him.
Likewise we also have committed numerous sins against God and we are not worthy to receive any good thing from God. But when we return to God and when we repent of our sins, He forgives and forgets all our sins and accepts us as His own children.
2. There is a new life in Father's house: When this young man returned to his Father's house, the first thing his father did was to give him new clothes and new shoes to wear and he ordered to put a ring in his hand. All these things were an indication of a new life for that young man.
When we return to Father's house, God also gives us a new life as we read in 2 Corinthians 5:17, "Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; old things have passed away; behold, all things have become new."
Also when a person accepts Jesus as his/her Lord and Savior, he/she gets new clothing as we read in Revelation 3:18, "I counsel you to buy from Me gold refined in the fire, that you may be rich; and white garments, that you may be clothed, that the shame of your nakedness may not be revealed; and anoint your eyes with eye salve, that you may see."
3. There is provision in Father's house: This young man was provided everything necessary for him when he returned to his father. Also in Old Testament we read that when Abraham was looking a bride for his son he said in Genesis 24:37-40, "Now my master made me swear, saying, 'You shall not take a wife for my son from the daughters of the Canaanites, in whose land I dwell; but you shall go to my father's house and to my family, and take a wife for my son.' And I said to my master, 'Perhaps the woman will not follow me.' But he said to me, 'The LORD, before whom I walk, will send His angel with you and prosper your way; and you shall take a wife for my son from my family and from my father's house."
According to the command of Abraham, his servant went to the father's house of Abraham and God provided a bride to Isaac.
4. There is celebration in Father's house: Father says to his servants in Luke 15:23-24, 'And bring the fatted calf here and kill it, and let us eat and be merry; for this my son was dead and is alive again; he was lost and is found.' And they began to be merry.
Yes, there is celebration in Father's house because a spiritually dead person has been brought to life, a lost person was found. This celebration is not of one time but as long as you will live in the Father's house, you could enjoy His peace, joy and happiness in your life
So return to the Father's house and see how many blessings He has stored for you!
