The story of Christmas starts with the great love of God for the dying humanity. One day God found out that His creation which He made with His own hands had sinned against Him. Adam and Eve in whom He was delighted to commune with them, whom He loved with all His heart, rebelled against Him and disobeyed Him. They did what God forbid them not to do. They ate the fruit of the forbidden tree. The day they ate it they not only died but also lost everything they had. Their fellowship with God ended that day. They were kicked out of the Garden of Eden. They were banished from all the good things which they enjoyed in their lives. Now they had to work hard for their livelihood.
Not only that, pain and sorrow came into this world. Their world of dreams collapsed in that moment when they sinned. It was a horrible tragedy that took place in the lives of Adam and Eve. They lost their joy and peace and instead, pain and hardship along with death came in this world. You can see the picture of a sad, miserable and hopeless human being. They slipped into a non returnable hopeless and helpless condition.
When God looked at the pathetic state of the human beings He could not endure it anymore. His heart was aching to see the horrible condition of His beloved creation. He decided to do something for them and He made the plan to send His only son to die for us so that our sins could be wiped away from our lives.
That's how Jesus was born in this world and placed in a manger because there was no room for Him in the inn. He humbled Himself and came down in this world, walked among us but His own rejected Him. He was bruised, He was wounded, He was spitted on His face, He was despised and he went through all the sufferings a human being could ever go through. Finally He was crucified and He shed His precious and holy blood on the cross. One may ask, why He should do that? I can say that it was the love which made Him to go through all these things for us.
Without His sacrifice it was not possible for human beings to come out of their sins and enter into heaven. But Jesus made a way to save us from death and destruction which came because of sin.
Bible says, "For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life. (John 3:16)"
My friend, this is the time when we celebrate the birth of Jesus, but among all celebrations, all glimmers and glitters we must not forget the love of God which He showed for us who came down in this world to save us. Let us receive Him in our lives, in our homes so that abundant life could come in our lives and the peace and joy of Christmas be filled in our hearts.
Unique Gift of God
By Sherly Isaac
We all love to have gifts in our lives. It is a joy to receive gifts. Today I am going to tell you about the unique gift which God wants to give to each and every one of us.
The gift of peace: When Jesus was born in this world, angels sang this song in Luk 2:14, "Glory to God in the highest, And on earth peace, goodwill toward men!" In this peaceless world where we see only chaos, turmoil, heartbreak, violence and no trace of peace, God wants to fill our heart with great peace.
Jesus came in this world to give peace. He is the price of peace. In His short ministry we read in the Bible that He often spoke about peace. He commanded to the raging sea, "Peace, be still", to the sick people whom he healed, He blessed them saying, "Go in peace". When He stood among those troubled and heartbroken, He said, "Peace to you." When He was leaving this world He said in John 14:27, "Peace I leave with you, My peace I give to you; not as the world gives do I give to you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid." The same peace Jesus wants to give in our hearts and wants to fill us with unspeakable peace.
The gift of great joy: Luk 2:10-11 Then the angel said to them, "Do not be afraid, for behold, I bring you good tidings of great joy which will be to all people. For there is born to you this day in the city of David a Savior, who is Christ the Lord.
Jesus' birth was to give us great joy in our lives. His birth in our hearts brings great joy in our lives. I remember when I invited Jesus in my life and asked Him to become my Savior and Lord of my life, my heart was filled with great joy. Despite all odd circumstances He filled me with great joy.
The joy He brings is incomparable and unexplainable. If you invite Jesus in your hearts, He can do the same for you. He will fill you with great joy that this world can not give.
The gift of life: Jesus said in John 10:10 The thief does not come except to steal, and to kill, and to destroy. I have come that they may have life, and that they may have it more abundantly." If your heart is crying, if you are sick, if you are burdened with sins and addictions you can not enjoy life. But Jesus came in this world to take away our tears, sicknesses and sin and He wants to give us abundant life, So that we could live a life of great peace and great joy. He wants us to enjoy a full life not only in this world, but also in heaven.
In the year 2005, my dad was very sick and was on his death bed and doctors gave us no hope. But there is a God who heard our cry and gave my dad's life back. He turned our situations around. He wiped away our tears. I remember when dad came back home healed, it was the time of Thanksgiving Day holidays. We felt as if God had given us Thanksgiving Day gift. That was one of the most joyful moments in our lives.
Not only in this world but also He came to give us eternal life - a life that will never fade away, a life full of joy and peace.
In this Christmas season when we celebrate the birth of Jesus, let us receive these unique gifts from God who wants to give it to us. And I promise, your life will never be the same again.
